If you are planning to apply the New Zealand Working Holiday Visa this year, releasing on 20th January 2017, here are the checklist:

• New Zealand Immigration user ID – The only way to apply it, is through New Zealand Immigration Official Website. Refer HERE for more information. Remember you user ID and  password, you need to log in to New Zealand Immigration to start the online application.
• Call up the bank – If you plan to use your visa/master debit card as the payment method, call up to your bank to enquire and increase the online transaction limit, to ensure the application payment goes through.
• Sufficient fund in your visa/master debit card – Please make sure you have at least NZD 208 or approximately RM 700 in your bank account.
• OTP code – If you plan to use visa/master credit card, a 6 digits OTP code may send to your registered mobile phones. If you are using your friend’s and family credit card, you might need the phone to be with you during the transaction.
• Passport Validity – Make sure the passport is active on the day of the application. Filling in incorrect details of the passport, may lead you to cancellation of your working holiday visa afterwards. (Fail to meet the character requirements).
• No documents are needed – Unlike other nationalities, Malaysians are exempted from providing medical reports, bank statements, English proficiency results, letter of conduct and others supportive documents. Just fill your details online, and that’s it.
• Autofill form – Practice filling the New Zealand application online form by using other nationalities. (Remember to delete application, if you did save). Refer HERE for more details. You need to choose the correct nationality on the actual day.

• Fill in online application – The online form will be released on 20th January 2017 10am (New Zealand time). It is absolutely fine, if you can’t load the page before the actual day.

1. I already applied my New Zealand Working Holiday visa last year. My application is in “PENDING SUBMISSION” status. I am unable to edit the details in it. Do I need to re-fill the form on 20th January 2017? Is there any possibilities that I can skip the process and just submit them?
Yes, you need to re-fill the form. No, you can’t skip the process, all the previous filled form will be deleted before 20th January. Everyone has to start all over again to be fair and square.

2. Malaysia is a LOW RISK TB county, do I need to submit my medical report?
No, you do not need to. Malaysians and Singaporeans are exempted from submitting the medical report, due to the length of the stay in New Zealand is just for 6 months.

3. Can I use a MASTER DEBIT card to pay the fee? And how much?
Yes, you can. The fee is NZD 208. Please make sure that there is a sufficient fund inside your bank account to make the transaction.

4. What is my second identification? What shall I fill in?

Your second identification can be your identification card, your driving licence and your birth certificate. Just fill in the details of your identification card details, and the date is the day when you celebrate your 12 years old birthday.

5. I do not know my INDUSTRY and OCCUPATION CODE, what shall I do?

This question is NOT marked with *, therefore you can skip the question if you want to.

6. What if I paid the fee, and my application was rejected, will I get my money back? 
Sorry, no. All paid fees are not refundable.

7. My passport is expired. Can I use it to apply New Zealand Working Holiday visa?
I highly recommend you to renew your passport before apply. It is one of the requirements to apply working holiday visa with a valid passport. If your passport is expiring soon, you may proceed the application with your existing passport number.

8. If I fail to apply this year, can I try again next year?
Sure, as long as you have not reach the age of 31, you are able to apply again.

9. I heard that, the New Zealand Immigration will release some places after few days later. Is it true?
Yes, you are right. Once any of the first 1150 applicants are not eligible, places will be open for grab. Log into your New Zealand Immigration account, and try to submit approximately 1 week later. Who knows you might be the lucky one.

10. What are the New Zealand Working Holiday application form problem that I might face?
According to the previous years, the website is hard to load or can’t load at all. Be patient, and press that refresh button.

11. How long can I stay in New Zealand?
It all depends. Usually, most people will stay at least 9 months in New Zealand. 6 months working holiday visa, 3 months of extension, and some people will apply for another 3 months of visitor visa.

12. What if I decided to change the date of departure, will it affect my e-visa?
It will not. You have a year to decide, when do you want to depart. Even though the date you depart, is different from the date, that you filled up the application form, it is absolutely fine. It will not affect your e-visa. Just bare in mind, you have to travel out to New Zealand within a year, after you received your e-visa.

13. Do I need the OTP code (Bank security code) to complete the transaction?
It is depending on the bank. Most of the bank will send in the OTP to your mobile, and you need to key it into the payment gateway to complete the payment process. Get them ready, just in case. 

14. What shall I choose in the “Have you spent a combined total of 3 months in any country NOT considered to be low risk for TB?”

Yes, Malaysia and Singapore are are not in the low TB risk country risk. Please choose ”
YES”. Don’t worry, it will not affect the result of your working holiday visa application.

• Animals or animal products – Including meat, dairy products, fish, honey, bee products, eggs, feathers, shells, raw wool, skins, bones or insects. Such as, Chinese or Asian medicine, cosmetics, health supplements and medicines, shells and clams, ivory, turtle shell items, coral, products made from snakeskin or whalebone, souvenirs made from animal parts.
• Plants or plant products – Fruit, flowers, seeds, bulbs, wood, bark, leaves, nuts, vegetables, parts of plants, fungi, cane, bamboo or straw, including for religious offerings or medicinal use. Such as, dried and fresh flowers, plant cuttings, items made of bamboo, cane, rattan, coconut, straw, items made of wood, for example, drums, carvings, masks, weapons, or tools, pine cones, any souvenirs made from plant material, herbal medicines, health supplements, and homeopathic remedies
  religious offerings.
• Other biosecurity risk items – Including animal medicines, biological cultures, organisms, soil or water.
• Equipment used with animals, plants or water – Including for gardening, beekeeping, fishing, water sport or diving activities. Such as, any footwear used outside of urban areas (should be cleaned prior to arrival and be free of soil and seeds), tents and any camping equipment, all camping foods, hunting gear, including clothing and backpacks, gardening equipment, waders, fishing rods, lines, hooks, flies, diving equipment and wetsuits, clothing, footwear and tools used for work in industries such as horticulture, viticulture (wine production), apiculture (beekeeping), aquaculture (fish farming), and forestry.

Bringing Food Or Products For Personal Use

Most of the foods are allowed to bring into New Zealand, but they must be declared. The MPI officials at the border will approve product items that matches the criteria below:

• Commercially prepared and packaged.
• Shelf-stable (the food will still be edible for at least 4 months without refrigeration)
• Unopened.

How much is the New Zealand Working Holiday fee? If you are a citizen of countries other than New Zealand, Australia, American Samoa, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Pitcairn Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and citizens of Cook Islands and Niue, you need to pay NZD 170 for the New Zealand Working Holiday (Up to date, November 2016) for the application fee.
