So, I am accepted, what’s next?

  • You will receive e-visa within 2-7 days after you sent in your application.
  • Log into your New Zealand Immigration website to check your application status.
  • Renew your passport, if your passport is nearly expired. Remember to update your E-Visa once you updated your passport.
  • It’s time to plan, check and find the cheapest the air tickets!
  • Consider the New Zealand Working Holiday Starter Pack.

If you need to get around New Zealand during the earthquake aftershock period, please refer below. Stay safe!

Bus Travellers

If you are heading between Christchurch and Picton, you are likely the be detoured on another route. For other trip, it is travel as usual. Maybe you can hang out longer where you are (go for a hike!) until the situation settle. Please refer to the bus providers, for updated information.

Car Rental Travellers

If you have already book, you are good to go, if you don’t, wait until the situation is stable. If you are on the road, please see “self driven” below.

At time of writing, all car rental companies are still operating. Some companies do not accept new bookings in Wellington and Christchurch until further notice.

Self Driven Travellers

If you are heading to North of Christchurch this week, consider traveling on the West Coast.

Ferry Travellers

The ferry are back in operation already with a few time changes. Expect limited on shore facilities (so go to the bathroom BEFORE heading to the terminal). Both companies are now taking foot passenger

Most lines are already up and running, only the Coastal Pacific is cancelled until further notice.
